Rococo Chocolate and Jigsaw Dressing Up Christmas Bars

In a collaboration with Jigsaw, the contemporary British fashion brand started in 1972, Rococo Chocolates, founded by Chantal Coady OBE in 1983, has developed three special, festive flavours for Christmas 2017. They are absolutely perfect for giving as a gift or enjoying with family and friends during the festive season. This is a limited edition.  Don’t miss-out – when they are gone… they are gone!

Jigsaw approached Rococo because they loved Chantal’s designs and a number of her designs have been used on accessories for their Christmas 2017 collection. Do look out for them. Some will also be available on the Rococo website.

Zest, Spice and Cinnamon Eve:

Tones of Cinnamon and nutmeg punctuated by pops of orange. This is what Christmas tastes like. A milk chocolate bar with a minimum 40% cocoa solids.

Cardamom & Crackle:

A crisp combination of crackling rice and cardamom in a smooth white chocolate. Like freshly fallen snow in a bar. White chocolate contains minimum 30% cocoa solids.

Boxing Day Beets:

Sweet beetroot enveloped in a coat of dark chocolate. An antioxidant – there is no guilt in this pleasure.  Dark chocolate contains a minimum of 65% cocoa solids.

The bars are available in 70g bars retailing at £5.00 or in mini bee bars retailing at £1.60.  Available at all Rococo shops and online from 16 October as well as in selected Jigsaw shops.

ROCOCO CHOCOLATES PICKS UP SPECIAL AWARD

The Academy of Chocolate Awards was held at Claridge’s Hotel for the 2017 event. This prestigious, and increasingly internationally recognised event, saw 900 entries this year, showing that the UK chocolate scene is growing in reputation and creativity.

Chantal Coady OBE. Founder of Rococo Chocolates was joined by Head Chocolatier Karen and the entire Rococo Kitchen team of Jordan, Mireille, Paul, Nick and Veronica, to collect all of the Awards, including two of the very few Golds awarded this year: for Citrus Rooibos and Yuzu & Sake, both ganaches from Rococo’s Couture range of Fresh chocolates, as well as a gold for Orange Blossom Neroli Bee Bar.

The surprise of the evening, came when Rococo were also awarded the inaugural Golden Bonbon Award, for the highest scoring chocolate of the year!

That was awarded for Citrus Rooibos – a dark chocolate dome, filled with a layer of sharp, blood orange jelly and a Valrhona ganache infused with rooibos tea. Both of the Gold winning ganaches were created for Rococo’s ‘Round the World’ seasonal range last year, when the chocolatiers worked to discover and share new flavours and ingredients from around the globe. Citrus Rooibos represented South Africa, and the mouth-tingling acidity of the Yuzu & Sake was for Japan.

The Orange Blossom Neroli bee bar, which won Gold in its category of flavoured milk bars, is a 50% dark milk, infused with organic Neroli essential oil for the evocative and delicate flavour of orange blossoms.

As well as the gold, Rococo also won four Silvers for Lychee & Thai Lime, Liquorice & Rhubarb, Sticky Toffee Pudding and our Macadamia Gianduja. Plus three Bronzes for the Cashew & Cocoa Nib Cluster, Popcorn Ganache, and panned Caramelised Macadamias & Hazelnuts.

All three Gold Award winning chocolates are available in all Rococo shops from Saturday.

Hazy Lazy Days – The Summer Collection

Karen Waller, Rococo’s head chocolatier and her team have been making the most of  the balmy months of summertime, bursting with beautiful British fruits and flowers with produce from the south and midlands. They got the first British cassis, a perfectly bitter Gin & Tonic, and a chewy caramel made with a light and fruity ale, brewed in South London. Add to this the intense, floral scent of elderflowers captured in jelly, and the tang of British-grown blackcurrants, and you have a refreshing quartet to take you through the Summer.

Blackcurrant & Cassis

Tangy blackcurrants grown in England, combined with a British first: a delicious cassis from White Heron in Herefordshire, blended with Brazilian dark chocolate to make a classic ganache.

The Perfect G & T

In their Bermondsey gin den, Little Bird serve up their ‘Perfect G&T’ with a big slice of pink grapefruit. They have endeavoured to recreate the experience, with a double layer of zesty pink grapefruit and Fevertree tonic jellies, topped with a juniper-infused Little Bird ganache.

Chewy Beer Caramel

A moreishly chewy and malty caramel, with the light mosaic and citra hop flavours of Gipsy Hill Brewery’s Hepcat IPA, coated in dark Valrhona chocolate. One definitely isn’t enough….

Elderflower & Chuckleberry

A delicate elderflower jelly boosted with Nottinghamshire’s Belvoir elderflower cordial and Chase’s Herefordshire Elderflower liqueur, topped with a beautiful purple ‘Chuckleberry’ ganache made with this unusual British-grown gooseberry X redcurrant.”

The Summer black collection is available in Rococo stores and online any day now, in 12 and 4 choc boxes £17.95 and £6.50 and loose in store too at £14.20 per 100g.

ABOUT ROALD DAHL AND HIS LEGACY:

Roald Dahl was a spy, ace fighter-pilot, chocolate historian and medical inventor. He was also the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG and many more brilliant stories. He remains the World’s No.1 storyteller. Born in Cardiff of Norwegian descent, Roald Dahl (1916–1990) joined the RAF at the age of 23 and began writing, initially for adults, after being injured in a plane crash during WW2. Sitting in a hut at the bottom of his garden, surrounded by odd bits and pieces such as a suitcase (used as a footrest), his own hipbone (which he’d had replaced) and a heavy ball of metal foil (made from years’ worth of chocolate wrappers), he went on to write some of the world’s best-loved children’s stories. His first children’s story, James and the Giant Peach, was published in 1961, was a hit and every subsequent book became a bestseller. Today, his stories are available in 58 languages and, by a conservative estimate, he has sold more than 200 million books. Many of these stories have also been adapted for stage and screen, including the 1971 film classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Wes Anderson’s acclaimed Fantastic Mr Fox, and the multi-award winning Matilda The Musical from the RSC with music by Tim Minchin. The most recent Roald Dahl story to hit the big screen is Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of The BFG, released in July 2016. 2016 marks Roald Dahl’s centenary. Entitled Roald Dahl 100, 2016 marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl – the world’s number one storyteller. There will be celebrations for Roald Dahl 100 throughout 2016, delivering a year packed with gloriumptious treats and surprises for everyone. Roald Dahl said, “If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

The box contains:

  • Passion Fruit & Rosemary Caramel (ICA World Silver 2013, AoC Gold 2013)
  • Kalamansi Lime Caramel (ICA World Silver 2013, AoC Gold 2013)
  • Mandarin & Tonka Bean Caramel
  • Pear William Caramel

The box is part of the couture rang, is freshly made and has a shelf life of 2 weeks.  It would be a surprise if it ever lasted that long!

The Caramel box with 12 caramels, 3 of each flavour, retails at £17.50. It is available from Rococo shops in Belgravia, Chelsea, Marylebone, and Chester as well as from the website.

www.rococochocolates.com

Note to Editors:

Barry explains how he creates the flavours. “I carefully prepare the caramels’ consistency to compliment the added flavours,” says Barry, “the caramel that I use for the Kalamansi lime is rich and buttery, quite different from the passion fruit and rosemary which has a much lighter texture and taste allowing the flavours to shine through. The collection is one of my proudest achievements with Rococo Chocolates”

Sea Salt Organic Chocolate Artisan Bar now also in Dark Chocolate

SeaSaltDarkWebWHITEBGROUND

One of Rococo’s most popular bars, the Organic Milk Chocolate Sea Salt Artisan bar, has now got a dark chocolate sibling.

No doubt this will be welcome news to all those customers who prefer dark chocolate. It has been quite a tricky process finding the right balance between the smoked Halen Mon Anglesey Sea Salt and the smooth dark chocolate but we think we have found a really interesting marriage.

Chantal, Rococo’s founder was inspired to make the original sea salt milk chocolate bar after walking along a beach eating an ice cream with the salt in the sea air catching on her lips.

Rococo’s organic milk and dark chocolate blends include cocoa beans from our own Grococo farm in northern Grenada and a little extra cocoa butter for a silky texture.

The 70g bar retails at £4.50
