OFFICIAL – ROCOCO BEST IN THE WORLD

IMG_5478It was a very proud moment for Chantal Coady OBE, owner and creative director of Rococo Chocolates, and Barry Johnson, principal chocolatier at Rococo Chocolate when they were presented with Gold medals for two of their delicious products from the International Chocolate Awards during The Chocolate Show.

International Chocolate Awards   –   Gold Best in the World

Dark Cardamom Bar

Mandarin and Tonka Caramel

And it did not stop there a silver medal was also awarded for the

Spice Island Bar

During the show there were other challenges and again Rococo proved a force to be reckoned with, Barry’s praline cigar won 2nd place in the:

Great British Spice Chocolate Challenge

2nd place     –     Hazelnut, orange and Lebkuchen spiced praline cigar.

Chantal and Barry would like to offer their congratulations to Zara Snell who, at only 19 years old, won the Spice Challenge a great achievement. Well Done! She is surely one to watch!

And not only is Rococo producing the best chocolate, they are also the fastest – proved so well by Sam Smallman, retail and events manager, in the truffle rolling competition which he won convincingly.

A great end to a very successful Chocolate Week

Rococo Chocolates helps raise awareness for The Global Goals – for Sustainable Developments

Rococo Artisan Bar GLOBAL GOALSChantal Coady OBE, founder, owner and creative director of Rococo Chocolates was inspired by Amanda Mackenzie’s (of www.project-everyone.org) call to action. The simple but mighty ambition of Project Everyone is to share their 17 global goals with seven billion people in seven days.

For the UN launch of Global Goals 2015 on Friday September 25th, Rococo Chocolates have paired their 17 artisan organic chocolate bars with the 17 Global Goals to help raise awareness for this fantastic worldwide campaign.

Chantal: “All of the 17 Global Goals are close to my heart. The big scary one is to end poverty by 2030 and to do this all the other goals will need to be achieved. If I had to pick three to highlight, it would be #5 Gender Equality, #4 Quality Education and #10 Reduced Inequalities.”

NOTES

On September 25th 2015, 193 world leaders, including the Pope, will meet in New York to commit to 17 Global Goals to achieve three extraordinary things in the next 15 years. To end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and fix climate change. The Global Goals for Sustainable Development could get these things done. In all countries. For all people.

Rococo Scores a Hat Trick in the Great Taste Awards

20150809_141231Rococo Chocolates are pleased to announce that Barry Johnson, Principal chocolatier and his team has been honoured with three awards in the 2015 taste Awards. Very well done to them.

There were 10,000 Great Taste entries this year and of those products only 130 have been awarded a 3-star, 597 received a 2-star and 2,382 were awarded a 1-star accolade. And to cap it all the Kalamansi is in the top 50 products out of the 10,000 entered.

The awards are given stars and this is what the stars stand for:

1 = Really great taste. Totally delicious

2 = Almost perfect. Keep going back for more and more

3 = Mind blowingly amazing. Perfect in every way

Kalamansi Lime Caramel – awarded 3 stars and here is some of what the judges had to say:

Beautiful finish and attractive presentation. Not too sweet, with a good zing from the lime. Good balance of chocolate with caramel and lime. Delightful appearance. Excellent cacao aroma. The shell is beautifully made. The Kalamansi character comes across well. Great balance with the light caramel. The finish is clean but with delightful long fruity notes both from the cacao and the filling – a well judged balance.

IMG_20150809_131941

Blackcurrant Marshmallow – awarded 2 stars and the comments were:

Glorious highly inviting colour. The blackcurrant flavour is evident and tangy. Good natural flavour with no synthetic edge. The silky smooth mouthfeel is contrasted by the addition of whole blackcurrants. The consistency is akin to that of a well sprung mattress. Attractive colour and appearance. Pretty colour. Good sharp blackcurrant flavour and a pleasant texture.

Salted Chocolate Toffee & Crunchy Praline – awarded 1 star and this is what they said:

Good quality chocolate, well formed. The chocolate shell has a good snap. The praline is well flavoured and has a pleasant crunch with a nutty flavour.

ROCOCO CHOCOLATES ARTISAN BAR COLLECTION

Rococo Artisan Bar Styling smlFrom opening London’s first real chocolate shop on the Kings Road almost 35 years ago to being awarded the first OBE for Services to Chocolate, Chantal Coady and Rococo are always striving for perfection in both taste and presentation.  Their Artisan Bars, some of the most popular products in their large range, have been given a makeover to make them look and taste even more scrumptious.

With this relaunch Rococo are using more beans from their Grenadian cocoa farm in their house blend, which also contains beans from Tanzania, Dominican Republic and Peru. This has created a smooth and toasty chocolate with fruity notes. The milk chocolate bars now contain almost 10% more cocoa for a richer 40% blend.

This award-winning range of Artisan Bars celebrates Rococo’s history. From classic flavours to exotic influences, each bar in this iconic collection is a reflection of Chantal’s diverse experiences and adventures in far flung locations. Rococo hopes you will enjoy their chocolates as much as Chantal has enjoyed their creation and design.

We asked Chantal which flavours were her favourite for this season: This is what she said: “For the summer it has to be Milk Sea Salt first, as that was inspired walking along a beach in Cornwall back in 1999, followed by the White Cardamom which is so exotic, zingy and not overly sweet as white chocolate can be.”

On the inside of the packaging you will find the Rococo story and lots of useful information on the bars and the farm in Grenada.

Rococo’s Couture Ganaches now available on their website

Dusted truffles 001           Dusted truffles 009   By popular demand two of Rococo’s fresh couture ganaches are now also available online: the House truffle and the Sea salt caramel truffles.

The House dark truffle made with Madagascar chocolate is enrobed in dark chocolate and finished in cocoa powder.

Silver medalist at the International awards 2012 and a Gold medal winner at the Academy of Chocolate awards 2013. A wonderful introduction to artisan ganaches with Madagascan Criollo and Trinitario Chocolate flavours. Plenty of bright red berry flavour in the chocolate. This is one for chocolate purists.

Fresh from winning a Silver medal at the Academy of Chocolates’ 2015 awards these Sea salt caramel milk chocolate ganaches are enrobed in dark chocolate and dusted in cocoa powder.

Rococo’s take on the ever-popular sea salted caramel and our best-selling chocolate. Made using Halon Môn Anglesey Sea Salt. Anglesey is only a stone’s throw from our Chester store and this sea salt has long been Chantal’s favourite.

Both are sold in 100g ballotin boxes and retail at £13.50. Please note that these are fresh ganaches and therefore have a comparatively short shelf life. Dates are displayed on the website.
