Sack Cloth & Ashes or Chocolate & Charity?

Chocolate has long been top of the list of things to give up for Lent, and now Rococo Chocolates has come up with a revolutionary idea: the Absolution bar. By buying your favourite bar, you are making a donation of £1.00 which goes to the The Lent Appeal 2017 in the Parish of St Paul’s Knightsbridge*. The bar will be given a special Absolution wrapper; the design is a collaboration with Mr Smith’s Letterpress. The inspiration came following a challenge from the Rev Alan Gyle*, to Chantal Coady OBE, founder and owner of Rococo Chocolates, she explained: “As a ‘good’ Convent girl,  I was always encouraged to give up chocolate for Lent which I found a trial. I would have loved the opportunity to pay for my indulgences… now I can make up for lost time!”

ALEXANDER ARMSTRONG (Broadcaster and TV Presenter of BBC1’s Pointless):

“I’ve always struggled to give up chocolate for the season of Lent. Here is a great way of giving in to temptation and doing good at the same time – with Absolution! This partnership between my London church and one of my favourite Chocolate Companies is a great opportunity to support the ALMA Link between the Diocese of London and the Church in Angola and Mozambique.”

THE REVEREND RICHARD COLES (Broadcaster and Vicar)

During my time in the Parish of St Paul’s Knightsbridge it was only prayer and the Rococo Chocolate shop in Motcomb Street that kept me sane! This delicious collaboration between two of Belgravia’s great institutions is a win-win for the holy season of Lent: chocolate for you and the knowledge that you’re supporting an emerging and fruitful partnership between one of the world’s most privileged corners in London’s Belgravia and one of the world’s poorest in Mozambique.

SAHAR HASHEMI OBE (co-founder of Coffee Republic, Skinny Candy, author and speaker)

Our church is always looking for ways to transform life and to make a connection between daily living and the work of the Kingdom of God. Chantal Coady OBE and Fr Alan Gyle have come up with a simple, delicious and clever way of contributing to the Lent Appeal in 2017. And of course if you feel guilty about eating the chocolate yourself during the Lenten season of austerity, you can either keep it for Easter or buy it and give it as a gift – a gift that gives twice!

*The Lent Appeal 2017 in the Parish of St Paul’s Knightsbridge is in support of an emerging link between one of London’s most privileged parishes and one of the world’s poorest – All Saints Namhavila in Mozambique. This new partnership is just the latest expression of a longstanding link between the Diocese of London and the Church in Angola and Mozambique (The ALMA Link).

The Rococo Easter Chick Has Hatched Just in Time for Easter

The very talented chocolatier team at Rococo, headed by Karen Waller, have come up with some cracking ideas for Easter Eggs this year… A limited edition of bespoke eggs:  this one is named ‘Don’t put all your eggs in one Basket’, it’s part of a range including ‘Chicken in a Basket” and ‘Hippie Chick’. There will be only 5 of each design made, so expect a bit of “Smash & Grab” raid when they arrive in store.

The egg itself, made from 39% organic milk chocolate, with smaller eggs of delicious caramelised white chocolate, and the little chick is marzipan.

Wonder what the other eggs will look like, eggciting…Watch this space!

The bespoke eggs retail at £40.00 and can be bought at the 4 Rococo London shops: Motcomb Street, Kings Road, Moxon Street and Earlham Street. A different egg for each shop.

Hurry, they won’t sit around for long.

Happy Easter from Rococo Chocolates.

This collaboration between two of London’s most covetable design brands: de Gournay, creators of bespoke hand painted wallpaper and Rococo Chocolates has resulted in the most delectable box of chocolates.

“I have always loved going past the de Gournay show room and admiring their 18th Century “Rococo” period interiors – the stunning room sets are a source of inspiration for me. I am so delighted to be working with them on the first of this collection of beautiful boxes. Our companies have so much in common, we both value craftsmanship and perfection, pleasure and provenance…”

Chantal Coady OBE

The box depicts de Gournay’s hand painted ‘Portobello’ Chinoiserie motif, filled with bamboo, flowering trees and ornate birds. Rendered in a custom Blue tone with metallic accents, the arresting design pairs beautifully with Rococo’s handmade, award winning, couture chocolates – a perfect present for any occasion: Valentines, Mother’s Day or House Party gift; who would not be thrilled to receive it?

Too beautiful to throw away, the box can be re-purposed to house letters, photos or other small treasures.

The chocolate selection in the box is picked from Rococo’s Couture range, lovingly handmade by Rococo’s chocolatiers led by Karen Waller, many of these fresh chocolates have won gold medals, and should be eaten within two weeks, which should not prove too difficult!

The box retails from £19.95 and is available from Rococo shops and on-line.

This box is a limited edition of 250

Rococo Chocolates was founded by Chantal Coady OBE in 1983. Armed with a little knowledge, a dangerous passion and a belief that there was room for a radically different approach to chocolate, she opened a shop on London’s King’s Road and has been pioneering the artisan chocolate movement in the UK ever since.

Rococo’s award winning collection includes organic Artisan bars in exotic flavours and Couture chocolates hand made in London by their small and dedicated team of chocolatiers.  Rococo now has five shops and co-owns a cocoa farm in Grenada with the Grenada Chocolate Company, which is part of the Grenada Organic Cocoa Farmer’s Cooperative.  Cocoa from this farm in made into chocolate in Grenada, one of the only tree-to-bar producers in the world, which is used as part of Rococo’s House Blend across much of their range.

Candlelight, Chocolate and Romance…

img_7708From the Rococo Home Collection: their very first chocolate scented candle.

Chantal Coady OBE, founder and creative director, likes a challenge, and this one has been on her mind for a while. To create a subtle fragrance of chocolate inspired by their exotic Madagascar 64% single estate dark chocolate which is renowned for its red berry & citrus notes. The candle offers a sophisticated luxurious experience of rich chocolate notes with nostalgic references to childhood’s comforting cocoa and warm vanilla in the base notes.

Imagine at the end of a long day, as the dark evenings approach, lighting your candle and sinking into a hot bath… pure indulgence. A truly decadent addition to your own home or the perfect gift if you can bear to part with it.

The candle comes in a custom made Eau de Nil coloured glass, tissue wrapped in its own gift box and retails at £ 37.50, it will burn for approximately 40 hours.

Burning instructions:

We recommend burning the candle for minimum two hours at a time in a draught free area to achieve an optimum fragrance throw, always until the wax pool hits the sides of the glass. We also recommend to trim the wick to 5mm before lighting.

The BFG – Enjoy the Movie – Munch the Chocolate

                                                Print    RococoLogoLuxury83FINALtallerFrobscottle & Snozzcumber

To coincide with the release of Disney’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s ‘The BFG’ directed by Steven Spielberg, the talented chocolatiers at Rococo Chocolates have been hard a work creating a very special bar inspired by this story.

This mouth-watering 30% cocoa white chocolate bar is based on the BFG’s favourite whizzpopping beverage, Frobscottle, and his most loathsome snack of Snozzcumbers, playing with the fresh summer flavours of mint, cucumber, strawberry and raspberry.  The creamy white chocolate is a two-tone pink and green cocktail of fruity flavours.

The good news is that there are more to come.  Many of Roald Dahl’s stories had a formative influence on Chantal Coady OBE, owner and creative director of Rococo Chocolates, and her life in chocolate.  To celebrate Roald Dahl 100, Roald Dahl’s centenary year, Rococo Chocolates have created a range of chocolate bars based on six other books too.  Each one is inspired by the genius of Roald Dahl, the world’s No. 1 storyteller, and will be available in Rococo shops soon. The bar retails at £5.50

Rococo is off Round the World again with their Summer Flavours

Enjoy the sensory journey!

IMG-20160616-WA0002The 2016 Summer Collection from Rococo Chocolates carry you off to exciting places; you can almost feel the sun and smell the fruit in these delicious ganaches. The inspiration for these flavours reflects all four continents exploring and incorporating local delicacies of the season.

Lychee & Thai Lime (Thailand, Asia)

This is an unusual combination of Thai lime zest and Madagascan dark ganache, with fruity lychee undertones.

Piña Colada (Australia, Australasia)

Coconuts and pineapples both fruit during the summer months, so Rococo whipped them up into a refreshing Piña Colada jelly with coconut cubes.

Huckleberry Pie (Montana, North America)

Ripe blueberries make delicious pies.  Here’s the Rococo version – fruity blueberry jelly and ganache, topped with a sable disc.

Honey & Sea Salt Caramel (Wales, Europe)

Pembrokshire’s summer bees collect nectar from wild blackberries and coastal gorse.  This luscious caramel balances Coedcanlas honey and Halen Mon sea salt in a milk chocolate dome. This chocolate won a Gold Medal at the recent Academy of Chocolate awards…

Summer Collection 2016 020

The ganaches are available loose in all Rococo shops now, £135/kg.  Boxes of 4 choc (£6.95) and 12 choc (£17.50) will be available in store and online from 1st July.
